Amy Johnson received award of appreciation from Downtown YMCA
[Dayton, OH 3/19/12] The YMCA of Greater Dayton is pleased to recognize Amy Johnson as the Downtown YMCA volunteer of the year.
Amy started with the Downtown YMCA in 2000 when her daughter Elizabeth started child care. In 2003, her second child joined Elizabeth. Amy soon started volunteering for Teacher Appreciation activities, fundraisers and served on the Child Care Parent advisory board. She joined the Downtown YMCA advisory board in 2007. Amy currently serves as the Strong Kids chair that has been successful for the last two years in meeting its goal. Amy has given over 100 volunteer hours at our YMCA through various activities including the Strong Kids telethon, Bike a thon, lobby ask and numerous other fundraising activities. Her leadership to support the Strong Kids campaign has lead hundreds of families and children to changed lives through the YMCA.
The award was presented during the YMCA's 141st Annual Meeting at the David H. Ponitz Center at Sinclair in Dayton recently. The event raised over $22,000 for the YMCA's annual Strong Kids Campaign and consisted of a silent auction, dinner and a program where volunteers and staff were recognized for their contributions to the success of the YMCA of Greater Dayton.
Thank you again to Amy Johnson. Her dedication to the Y makes our community a better place.
