Arctic Dash at YMCA Camp Kern to Offer Collegiate Student Discount

With the advent of the running culture, tough mudders and Iron Man competitions, the Arctic Dash brings to college and university students a fun and charitable way to add another trophy to their walls. This December 6 in Oregonia, Ohio, YMCA Camp Kern, a part of the YMCA of Greater Dayton, will be hosting the annual Arctic Dash in support of the camp’s Annual Campaign. This fund allows kids in need to experience the magic of summer camp. Even better, is the ability for collegiate students to receive a discounted registration rate.   

For those unfamiliar, the Arctic Dash is hosted on site at YMCA Camp Kern, a year-round camp located in Warrant County that hosts more than 30,000 kids, guests and families a year. Challenges abound in this outdoor event that pits participants against each other, course obstacles and cold weather. Be prepared for ravines, ropes, water and mud. Warm water hose-offs and showers, and food will be provided at the event.

Chris Addison, Executive Director at YMCA Camp Kern, has this to say about the benefits of camp. “We believe that Camp brings out the best in kids, it allows them to disconnect from the digital world and develop real skills such as friendship building, problem solving and challenging themselves. The Arctic Dash has raised more than $10,000 over its first two years of being in existence and we hope to dramatically increase this figure in the coming years as we grow the event.”

With the ability to challenge one’s self while supporting a great cause, anyone who is up to the challenge is encouraged to register. And as was said, college and university students will receive a discounted registration.
