Every Teen Belongs at the Y. An Anonymous Donor's Gift is Changing Teen Lives in a Big Way

Dayton, OH – 5/21/2018 – In September 2016, the YMCA of Greater Dayton received a donation to assist all teens entering 7th and 8th grade during the summer across the Miami Valley, by providing a free membership to everyone in this age group from June 1to August 15.

This donation was given to ensure that our communities youth would develop in a safe environment where they can learn, grow, and thrive every day. The donor, who wishes to remain anonymous, had an established relationship with the YMCA. This donor and their family are committed to the Dayton area and hope that this gift will help kids be surrounded by positive mentors and friends.

The donor family stated, “We grew up with a supportive family and community and it had such a profound impact on us, that we couldn’t help but be compelled to do our part and return the favor.” The donor family has a deep appreciation and commitment to young people. Their goal with this donation is to provide mentors and resources for young adults to thrive within the YMCA.

This generous gift will assure that teens in the Miami Valley will have fun, meet new friends, and make memories that last a lifetime.
