[Miami Valley, OH 4/25/19] The YMCA of Greater Dayton is pleased to recognize Heather Schaeffer Anderson as the Fairborn YMCA volunteer of the year.

Heather has been a member of the Fairborn YMCA for 4 years. She is a homeschool educator and is married to her wonderful husband Mark. She assists with 2nd grade swim, Safety Around Water Week, and is a swim aide. Heather can be seen weekly assisting in the pool with our swim programming.

If you ask Heather why she enjoys the Fairborn YMCA so much, she will tell you the family atmosphere and the warmth from the staff and members. Heather is a committed volunteer and advocate for the Y. She brings her passion for helping others to the Y families, encouraging them to learn new skills, grow and thrive.

The award was presented during the YMCA's 148th Annual Meeting at the David H. Ponitz Center at Sinclair in Dayton on March 14th. The event raised over $26,000 for the YMCA's Annual Campaign and LIVESTRONG at the Y program. The night consisted of a silent auction, dinner and a program where volunteers and staff were recognized for their contributions to the success of the YMCA of Greater Dayton.
