YMCA of Greater Dayton Welcomes Springfield Family YMCA as Its 14th Branch
Merger strengthens community impact, expands resources, and builds long-term stability for Springfield
The YMCA of Greater Dayton is proud to announce that the Springfield Family YMCA will officially merge with our association on January 1, 2026, becoming the 14th branch across our growing regional network. This announcement comes on the heels of the successful addition of the Versailles YMCA, which reopened to the public on December 1, 2025, marking a period of unprecedented growth and community investment for our association.
The Springfield Family Y has been closely partnered with the YMCA of Greater Dayton since 2022, following challenges that included leadership transitions and critical facility repair needs. Working with the State Alliance of YMCAs, Springfield’s Board identified the Dayton association as the best partner to help stabilize operations and secure the branch’s long-term future.
Over the past three years, our leadership team—led by President & CEO Dale Brunner and VP of Operations Josh Sullenberger—has supported Springfield through a management agreement that has already produced major progress, including:
- Recruiting new program directors and securing Executive Director Heather Hogge
- Completing a $343,000 renovation project with upgraded flooring, new strength and cardio equipment, and improved lighting
- Growing membership and expanding youth, family, and wellness programming
- Securing new funding to renovate the Child Watch room
“We are honored to officially welcome the Springfield Family YMCA into the YMCA of Greater Dayton,” said Dale Brunner, President & CEO. “The Springfield Board has been tremendous in their dedication to preserving access to vital programs and services. We look forward to deepening our impact together and providing a YMCA experience the community can be proud of.”
What the Merger Means for Springfield Members
As the Springfield Family Y joins the YMCA of Greater Dayton:
- Springfield will remain open and continue operating as the Springfield Family YMCA
- Members will gain access to all 14 YMCA of Greater Dayton locations, plus Nationwide Reciprocity at YMCAs across the country
- All current staff will remain, with expanded training and professional development opportunities
- Members will see more programs, improved facility experience, and new virtual resources
- The Springfield Board of Advisors will continue providing local leadership, fundraising support, and community connection
Executive Director Heather Hogge will continue overseeing daily operations, supported by association-level leadership and resources.
