WHY THIS YMCA MATTERS!

For over 30 years, the Versailles YMCA has been more than just a gym — it’s been a gathering place for families, a safe haven for kids, and a wellness hub for seniors. From swim teams and youth sports to fitness classes and lifelong friendships, the Y has shaped lives and strengthened our community.

But without your support, the story could end here.

What’s Happening — And How You Can Help

In August 2025, the YMCA of Darke County announced the permanent closure of the Versailles Y due to financial hardship, along with their intent to sell the building. Local residents immediately stepped up to form the Save the Versailles Y Committee — a passionate group committed to purchasing and revitalizing the facility.

A New Path Forward

  • The facility will be owned by a local non-profit trust and have an advisory board made up of local community leaders.

  • The YMCA of Greater Dayton will take over day-to-day operations, ensuring proven expertise while preserving local control.

  • A renewed focus on community partnerships will help the Y serve as a hub for athletic, social, and faith-based groups across the Versailles area.

Supporting Families

The Y is A Home Away from Home!

“My children participated in swim team, youth sports, and gymnastics—and later worked as lifeguards. The Y gave them a safe place to grow, while also giving me a chance to connect with other parents.
