Position Summary:
Responsible for officiating excellent and safe youth and adult programs to YMCA members and program participants in Sports programs.

Essential Functions:
  • Monitors play to oversee the safety of players and ensure the particular sport’s and YMCA rules are followed.
  • Ensures the gym(s) are ready for games with physical setting and equipment.
  • Sets up and tears down all equipment needed for play prior to start up time.
  • Communicates and enforces sports rules effectively while providing leadership during all games according to the YMCA policy.
  • Maintains cleanliness of the gym area.
  • Builds relationships with members and program participants.
  • Ensures safety by communicating and enforcing any rules, policies and guidelines at participants’ comprehension level.
  • Ensures safety by checking for hazardous conditions and making sure all safety equipment is properly placed and in proper working condition.
  • Follows all sports program rules, dress code, policies and guidelines.
  • Tracks and posts league standings.
  • Posts schedules and events promptly prior to the league or event date.
  • Ensures all sports program information is communicated in writing to the Program Director, Membership Director, and Front Desk Staff in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Creates new ways to promote sports through new corporate leagues, tournaments, camps, etc.
  • Creates an atmosphere that is based on fair play and incorporates it in a manner that is both demonstrative and professional.

Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 15 years of age.
  • High School diploma preferred.
  • Six months or more of related officiating experience preferred
