Aquatic center at 'The Heights' opens

A smattering of officials lined up for a photo op as a swirling mass of families toting towels gathered outside the new pool.

In addition to being Huber Heights’ new public pool –something that had been absent nearly four years – the “Kroger Aquatic Center at The Heights” is a key part of the area’s development, according to William Jump, president of the development firm.

HUBER HEIGHTS -- Huber Heights city leaders are getting ready to unveil the new Kroger Aquatic Center at the Heights.

The grand opening is Saturday May 26.

It took 10 months to complete the project that includes a lap pool for adults, fitted with a diving board.

Local zipline unveils new thrills over Little Miami

OREGONIA — Marne Miller predicted that she was going to scream as soon as she stepped off the platform and into the gaping tree-covered unknown.

True to her world, Miller produced a shriek as she stepped off the platform 45 feet above the ground, for a minute-long journey over the Little Miami River.

OREGONIA, Ohio — A YMCA camp is getting ready to open two new zip lines over a southwest Ohio river as part of an outdoor attraction.

A judge rejected a conservation group's effort to block Camp Kern from putting up the lines in natural areas along the Little Miami River, saying it was no more intrusive than a permitted bike path.

The attraction allows people to be strapped into harnesses and "zip" along cable lines.
