U.S. Soccer Foundation Awards $310,000 Social Innovation Fund Sub-Grant to the YMCA of Greater Dayton
Dayton, OH On March 7, 2012 the U.S. Soccer Foundation awarded a $310,000 Social Innovation Fund Sub-Grant over two years to the YMCA of Greater Dayton to support the implementation of Soccer for Success, the Foundations after-school, sports-based youth development program that uses soccer as a tool to combat childhood obesity and provides nutrition education and mentorship to children in at-risk communities.

The Recreation & Aquatic Center and the amphitheater being built off of Brandt Pike next to the YMCA are still expected to open Memorial Day and Labor Day, respectively, city officials said.

As a result, more children in the Trotwood community, who otherwise could not afford to participate, have access to life-enriching afterschool programs that cultivate the values, relationships and skills kids need to thrive, now and as adults.

01/27/12 - It may be the dead of winter now, but construction of Phase I of the Aquatic Park portion of the recreation center facility behind the Huber Heights YMCA is well under construction and is expected to be completed by Memorial Day, 2012. Monday night, the Huber Heights City Council approved Phase II of the recreation center facility-the amphitheater portion of the project.

"We keep them hydrated and keep them cool and comfortable in the shade," said Teresa Perry, Program director at the Coffman YMCA. "We play games in the shade and we also go to the creek that is here at Patricia Allyn Park."
